The recycling boxes always looked untidy just lined up next to the stairs to my garage, so I decided to do something about it.
I’ve previously made some planters for Joy to use in the garden, so I figured I’d progress to something a little bigger and made a bench that could be used for potting and also handy for BBQs and such like.
Its nothing special, but I did make my first attempt at a proper half lap joint. I’m quite pleased with how it turned out really, and after Joy painted/stained it, it really fits in nicely in the garden.
I also used the offcuts from this project along with something I knocked up in CAD and 3d printed, to make a small table that fits on top of my telescope pier (another hobby!). The nights are too short at the moment to make it worth putting the scope out, so its now a nice little table. I did initially print the center piece in PLA, but after one day it was badly warped. However that did give me a chance to make a few more tweaks to the model and then reprint it in PETG which can withstand the direct sun and heat quite a bit better.
