Taking inspiration from an Evan and Katelyn video, we decided to have a little go at making bath bombs. This was mainly inspred when we heard the list of ingredients and already had all but 2 of them in our kitchen cupboard (Bargain!).
We needed to make a bath bomb mould and courtesy of thingiverse, a few hours later…. (the giant press was a little overkill I think)
So, ingredient-wise, here’s the list:
Dry ingredients – mix in a bowl together:
100g bicarbonate of soda
50g citric acid
25g cornflower
25g Epsom salt
We also added a little glitter, but then I had an environmental melt-down about this later, so that’s up to you.
Oils/smells etc:
Melt coconut oil (we did that on the radiator but I’m sure more grown-up methods are available) and add 2 tablespoons into a seperate bowl.
Add a few drops of the essential oil of your choice, we picked lavender
Add a few drops of food colouring and don’t panic as it won’t mix with the coconut oil very well, just mix it in so there’s loads of drops and it will sort itself out later
Add the oil mixture to the dry mix slowly, mix it up then add a little more until you have a mix that’s still fairly dry but does come together if you give it a squeeze.
Then we made some shapes using our newly made mould and a silicone cupcake holder too.
So we made 2 colours, white and purple, so that we could have a mix of colours or looks.
We left them to set for a few hours and they’re pretty robust.
I did also have to do the obligatory bath test and they worked well, and we’d would reccommend having a go!
